Plymouth Whalers (OHL) and the Omaha Lancers (USHL) draft former Eagle Kenny Gillespie...
Former East Coast Eagle Kenny Gillespie was recently drafted in the 12th round by the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Gillespie played defense for Coach Kevin Morgan and then as a forward for Coach Andrew Barron while playing for the Eagles. Gillespie now attends Shattuck St. Mary’s, a MinnesotaPrep School that also excels in developing young hockey players. The OHL is one of the three Major Junior hockey leagues that constitute the Canadian Hockey League. Approximately half of the NHL players have played in the CHL and is generally considered the world’s top professional development junior hockey league.
Separately, the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) drafted Gillespie in the 3rd round of USHL draft conducted on May 12th. The USHL is Junior A Tier I and is the premier Junior hockey league in the country.
